CHANGE YOUR SETTING, FIND YOUR PURPOSE

Change your setting

The young traumatized flowers lay gasping for nourishment.  Their young lives cut short of revealing their full splendor. Her regret, not discovering her purpose.

She could sense the life choking from her. She collapsed in a basket along with others she never noticed before. Would she not have time to flower? Is her purpose to perish in this setting? She felt strength decrease from her; she realized she was weeping from the end of her stem. Vitality leaving her, she soon would be limp and the death of her existence would disappear. She predicted she would not see the evening.

Then she received more cutting. Then dipped in water. Oh my, the agony of the end seemed unbearable.

DIFFICULT CHANGE

Then suffocation from drowning, but instead of drowning, she received nourishment; her stem straighter and her bloom fuller and more vibrant. She found a new family of blooms and greenery who filled her new home to make beauty. Normally she lived unnoticed, but now she stood in a place of honor and the focal point. She burst with pride and delight.

HER MISSION

Except unbeknownst to this little bloom, she had a significant mission. A gentleman strolled in and acquired her new home. She and the others wrapped in cellophane and taken away. The drive made the bloom squeamish. When he stepped into a room of sadness, but when he set us beside a woman in bed. As the woman opened her eyes, the hospital room sprang into a rainbow of lights. The man brushed his finger against her cheek and kissed her lips. He moved us in front of her nose, and she smiled and dabbed the bloom. The power of love came through the touch, the smile caused the bloom to stand taller and stronger. The bloom found her purpose. She was to give happiness in the time of pain. There may be tears and sad smiles, but for the full-blown flower, it was the gentle touch of the woman’s finger. Lesson learned, change happens, bloom where your planted.

What do you Choose?

choice

Do not live in the circumstances presented,

but choose the gift in front of you.

The Circumstances

“I see countless years of pain, why should I consider your words? How can suffering bring positives? My husband left me, I lost my home of 20 years, and I occupy a job I detest.”

 “Carol, continue.”

“Continue? Isn’t that enough? You haven’t experienced my pain or traveled my road!”

“My experience may never look similar to yours, however, there are two sides to a coin and two sides to every dilemma. The gifts that surround you will counteract the negatives.”

“You must be joking! How can there be a positive? A divorce, a loss of home, a job I hate! I see no favorable outcome or gift.”

“You have children, correct? Whom you love, care for, and hold? Are they not gifts?”

“Yes, but I cannot tolerate this pain any longer.”

Your Choice

“Are your children not a product of your marriage? Maybe they are the treasure you pursue? Have they not kept you going? Are they not why you work?”

“Well, yes! But…”

“Carol, receive your gifts. Your children are a blessing. Suppose tonight, instead of throwing sorrow, give joy and the unusual?”

“But I can’t afford the unusual.”

“Cooking happens each day, what about an unusual dish?”

“They only love macaroni and cheese.”

“Then cook a whole meal of macaroni and cheese, just for fun? Carol,  receive the gifts in front of you. Learn to recognize them with a joyous heart. And in this process, you will teach your children to seek the gifts in a storm.

In Conclusion

Storms water plants.

Losing a house becomes a new home to decorate.

Every night introduces a new day.

The Lord who died on a cross gave a rebirth for His sheep.

A season of Harvest

Happy Thanksgiving

The days are cooler, Mr. Rogers said. I love the cooler days of this season. The summer is for growing and the fall for harvesting. It goes along with God’s way. He grows us sometimes with hard seasons, but we come out strong and receive the fruit of our labor. Thank you, Lord, for guiding us and giving us wisdom to live in the season of harvest. I am thankful for the fruit of my labor. I am thankful for my weekends.

Mr. Rogers, I thought you would get all philosophical on me. And all of that talk was about the weekend?

Well, what is wrong with being thankful for my weekend?

Mr. Rogers, this season is about the pilgrims and the Indians, not about your weekend.

Oh, but Mr. Cole, The Indians and pilgrims were teaching us to be thankful for all blessings.

And my blessing is the weekend.

Psalm 22

Jesus used part of this psalm when He was on the cross. He is not afraid to speak what he feels.

Matthew 27:46 (NLT)

At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”

Mark 15:34 (NLT)

Then at three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”

SPEAKING THE PAIN

1    My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
Why are you so far away when I groan for help?

2    Every day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer.
Every night I lift my voice, but I find no relief.

REMEMBERING THE TRUTH AND FAITH IN THE PAIN

3    Yet you are holy,
enthroned on the praises of Israel.

4    Our ancestors trusted in you,
and you rescued them.

5    They cried out to you and were saved.
They trusted in you and were never disgraced.

BACK TO THINKING ABOUT THE PAIN, THE FEELING

6    But I am a worm and not a man.
I am scorned and despised by all!

7    Everyone who sees me mocks me.
They sneer and shake their heads, saying,

8    “Is this the one who relies on the Lord
Then let the Lord save him!
If the Lord loves him so much,
let the Lord rescue him!”

REMEMBERING THE TRUTH, FAITH

9    Yet you brought me safely from my mother’s womb
and led me to trust you at my mother’s breast.

10   I was thrust into your arms at my birth.
You have been my God from the moment I was born.

HOLDING ON TO THE PAIN

11   Do not stay so far from me,
for trouble is near,
and no one else can help me.

12   My enemies surround me like a herd of bulls;
fierce bulls of Bashan have hemmed me in!

13   Like lions they open their jaws against me,
roaring and tearing into their prey.

14   My life is poured out like water,
and all my bones are out of joint.
My heart is like wax,
melting within me.

15   My strength has dried up like sunbaked clay.
My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth.
You have laid me in the dust and left me for dead.

16   My enemies surround me like a pack of dogs;
an evil gang closes in on me.
They have pierced my hands and feet.

17   I can count all my bones.
My enemies stare at me and gloat.

18   They divide my garments among themselves
and throw dice for my clothing.

REMEMBERING THE TRUTH AND ASKING

19   O Lord, do not stay far away!
You are my strength; come quickly to my aid!

20   Save me from the sword;
spare my precious life from these dogs.

21   Snatch me from the lion’s jaws
and from the horns of these wild oxen.

CHOOSING TO PRAISE IN TRUTH

22   I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters.
I will praise you among your assembled people.

23   Praise the Lord, all you who fear him!
Honor him, all you descendants of Jacob!
Show him reverence, all you descendants of Israel!

24   For he has not ignored or belittled the suffering of the needy.
He has not turned his back on them,
but has listened to their cries for help.

25   I will praise you in the great assembly.
I will fulfill my vows in the presence of those who worship you.

CHOOSING TRUTH AND WALKING IN FAITH

26   The poor will eat and be satisfied.
All who seek the Lord will praise him.
Their hearts will rejoice with everlasting joy.

27   The whole earth will acknowledge the Lord and return to him.
All the families of the nations will bow down before him.

28   For royal power belongs to the Lord.
He rules all the nations.

29   Let the rich of the earth feast and worship.
Bow before him, all who are mortal,
all whose lives will end as dust.

30   Our children will also serve him.
Future generations will hear about the wonders of the Lord.

31   His righteous acts will be told to those not yet born.
They will hear about everything he has done.

THROUGH ALL OUR PAIN AND HEARTACHE, WE LEAVE A LEGACY. TELL OF THE PAIN, BUT ALSO TELL OF THE VICTORIES AS THEY COME. SOME TAKE LONGER, BUT ALL CAN BE VICTORY.

SIMPLY YOU MATTER IN THE PAIN,

PSALM 17

 GOD HEARS, LISTENS AND PROTECTS

  1. O Lord, hear my plea for justice.
Listen to my cry for help.
    Pay attention to my prayer,
for it comes from honest lips.

PLEA FOR JUSTICE AND HELP

  1. Declare me innocent,
for you see those who do right.

GOD SEES AND KNOWS WHO DOES RIGHT

  1. You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night.
You have scrutinized me and found nothing wrong.
I am determined not to sin in what I say.

DETERMINED TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT

  1. I have followed your commands,
which keep me from following cruel and evil people.

I FOLLOW YOUR WAYS

  1. My steps have stayed on your path;
I have not wavered from following you.

I STAY ON YOUR PATH

  1. I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God.
Bend down and listen as I pray.

I KNOW YOU BEND DOWN AND LISTEN

  1. Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways.
By your mighty power, you rescue
those who seek refuge from their enemies.

SHOW ME AND ALL THAT SEEK TO HARM ME YOUR WAYS

  1. Guard me as you would guard your own eyes.[a]
Hide me in the shadow of your wings.

EYELIDS HIDE EYES, SO THE PSALMIST IS ASKING TO BE HIDDEN AS EYELIDS HIDE THE EYES.

  1. Protect me from wicked people who attack me,
from murderous enemies who surround me.

PROTECTION

  1. They are without pity.
    Listen to their boasting!

WHAT THE ENEMY IS DOING

  1. They track me down and surround me,
watching for the chance to throw me to the ground.

ENEMIES WAITING FOR ME TO MESS UP

  1. They are like hungry lions, eager to tear me apart—
like young lions hiding in ambush.

ENEMIES WATCHING FOR A MISTAKE

  1. Arise, OLord!
Stand against them, and bring them to their knees!
Rescue me from the wicked with your sword!

GOD RESCUE

  1. By the power of your hand, OLord,
destroy those who look to this world for their reward.
But satisfy the hunger of your treasured ones.
    May their children have plenty,
leaving an inheritance for their descendants.

WHAT THE RIGHTEOUS IS ASKING FOR: SATISFY MY HUNGER, GIVE MY CHILDREN ALL THEY NEED AND LEAVE AN INHERITANCE FOR MY DESCENDANTS

  1. Because I am righteous, I will see you.
When I awake, I will see you face to face and be satisfied.

EAGER TO SEE YOUR FACE LORD AND FAITH THAT I WILL BE SATISFIED

verse 8:  Guard me as you would guard your own eyes.

DEFINITION:

Guard: to watch over
Eyes: the human eye is fragile, needs moisture, sensitive
Eyes are fragile and need a lot of protection. There are 3 ways to protect the eye.

  1. eyelid- has a built-in nerve to automatically shut the eye if threatened
  2. eyelash- for the 2nd way of protection
  3. tears to keep the eye moist

God automatically protects and has many ways to protect to all who matter,
Simply You Matter

Psalms 2

   Leadership

Why are the nations so angry?
Why do they waste their time with futile plans?

Angry nations- angry leaders

2 The kings of the earth prepare for battle;
the rulers plot together against the Lord
and against his anointed one.

Leaders preparing for battle against the Lord

“Let us break their chains,” they cry,
“and free ourselves from slavery to God.”

They work to lead Freedom from God

4  But the one who rules in heaven laughs.
The Lord scoffs at them.

Leaders of countries do not make God nervous.

Then in anger, he rebukes them,
terrifying them with his fierce fury.

Gods hour comes in His time.

For the Lord declares, “I have placed my chosen king on the throne
in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain.

God chooses leadership over nations

The king proclaims the Lord’s decree:
“The Lord said to me, ‘You are my son.
Today I have become your Father.

God uses Leadership to proclaim His decree

Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance,
the whole earth as your possession.

A promise: all we have to do is ask

9 You will break them with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots.’”

God will break the individuals….

with a strong hand (Iron rod- Smash with clay pots)

10 Now then, you kings, act wisely! Be warned, you rulers of the earth!

The nations are for us, but at the same time,

we need leaders who act wisely and give

God the glory who is the one who chooses

and will break and smash if needed.

11 Serve the Lord with reverent fear and rejoice with trembling.

Leaders serve the Lord in humbleness.

Rejoice, but know who put you in the position of leadership

12 Submit to God’s royal son, or he will become angry,
and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities—
for his anger flares up in an instant.
But what joy for all who take refuge in him!

Even in psalms God refers to His Son.

There 2 choices when leading:

  1. attract God’s Anger
  2. His Joy and provision
